Florence “Flossie” Amicone, age 84 of New Philadelphia and formerly of Roswell, died Sunday, December 2, 2007 in Aultman Hospital at Canton, surrounded by her family.One of twelve children to the late Lawrence and Elenor “Helen” Ghezzi Contini, Flossie was born on November 28, 1923 at Dover.A graduate of Dover High School, Flossie married Anthony Joseph Amicone in Saint Joseph Catholic Church on September 25, 1947.Together, the couple reared three children; a son, Anthony “Larry” (wife Brenda) Amicone of New Philadelphia and two daughters; Brenda (husband John) Basiletti also of New Philadelphia, and Michelle (husband Robert) Tilkey of Petersburg, Virginia.Flossie was a homemaker all of her life and everything she did centered on her family and will be remembered for her famous Sunday meals of spaghetti and meatballs. She and her late husband were very instrumental in the development of Central Catholic High School and was known as a devout attendee of football and basketball games held there. In addition to her love for sports, Flossie loved playing bingo, crocheting, knitting and reading as well as keeping her yard in near perfect condition.Mrs. Amicone was also a very active member of the former Saint Elizabeth’s Catholic Church at Roswell and were she served in various capacities. Later in life, Flossie became a member of Sacred Heart Catholic church at New Philadelphia and was an active participant in the church’s Senior Citizen’s Group. In addition to her children, Flossie is survived by two sisters; Anna M. Contini of New Philadelphia, Catherine “Jenny” Warner of Dover and a brother; Patsy “Pat” Contini of Midvale. Also surviving are seven grandchildren; Eric (wife Carla) Basiletti, Anthony L. “Chip” (wife Beth) Amicone, Andrea (husband Kevin) Fox, Janine Beatty, Valerie (husband Donnie) Howell, Lacy Tilkey and Briana Tilkey. Ten great grandchildren, Alyssa Jordan, Sierra Basiletti, Makaila Shaw, Holly Basiletti, Jack Amicone, Kaden Fox, Erika Basiletti, Tate Amicone, Gabriel Amicone and Gavin Fox complete the family.In addition to her parents and her husband, Flossie was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters; Daniel “Jack” Contini, Lucille Duvall, Mary Schivone, Antonett De Rosario, Lawrence Contini Jr., Joseph Contini, Michael Contini and Connie Contini.The family will receive guests on Wedneday, December 5, 2007 from 5:00 Â? 8:00 PM. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia where Christian Wake service will commence at 7:30 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Monsignor George J. Schlegel in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Thursday, December 6, 2007, at 10:30 AM with burial to follow in the St. Elizabeth’s Cemetery at Rosswell. Following the burial a reception will be held in St. Ambrose Hall Adjacent to the church.Those unable to attend may visit the funeral home’s website and send a personal condolence to the family by signing the online guest registry.
