Exe Lane Watson, 70, of Senecaville, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center in Cambridge, Ohio.
A daughter of the late Phillip R. Simmons Sr. and the late Mary Theresa (Meechan) Simmons, Exe was born December 1, 1948 at Dover, Ohio.
Exe graduated from Tuscarawas-Warwick High School in 1967 where she was a member of the cheerleading squad. She continued her education throughout her career including completing the University of Colorado’s Volunteer Management Certification Program.
Her career highlighted her people skills most notably within the healthcare industry as Medina General Hospital’s Director of Volunteer Services, the Purchasing Agent for Union Hospital in Dover, Ohio and the Director of Admissions and Patient Accounting for Dunlap Memorial Hospital in Orrville, Ohio.
Exe lived life to the fullest enjoying a variety of activities such as horseback riding, boating and water skiing, snow skiing, and collecting shells from the many beaches she visited. Her greatest passion in life was her family, being a mom, a “Nana” for her “sweetie babies”, and spending time with her beloved husband.
She is survived by her husband, Dan Watson whom she married on September 22, 1988; her sons Bryan (Rayna) Finnicum of Bolivar, Ohio and Mark (Jamie) Finnicum of Raleigh, North Carolina; her grandchildren, Connor, Riley, Regan, Mason and Micah and her brother, Phillip R. (Diana) Simmons Jr. of North Lawrence, Ohio.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 6, 2019 from 2 to 5 PM at Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory in New Philadelphia, Ohio. A funeral service celebrating Exe’s life will be held on Monday, January 7, 2019 at 10:30 AM in the funeral home with Pastor Brian Flood officiating. Burial will follow in St. James Lutheran Cemetery in Tuscarawas, Ohio. Following the committal service, a luncheon will be held in the Geib Family Center at New Philadelphia.
