Evelyn Wilma Becker

Evelyn W. Becker, 93, of New Philadelphia, died Monday, Mar. 25, 2002, in Walnut Hills Retirement Community, Walnut Creek.Born May 23, 1908, in West Chester, OH, she was the daughter of the late Basil and Rosetta Morrison Packer. Evelyn was a 1927 graduate of New Philadelphia High School, and was a homemaker. She greatly enjoyed quilting, a skill for which she was well-known and regarded. Evelyn was a member of South Broadway United Methodist Church, New Philadelphia.Survivors include a daughter, Patricia (Clarke) Whinery of New Philadelphia; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter E. Becker, in 1969; and by a daughter, Kathryn “Kay” Stratton in 1998.A funeral service will be held Saturday, Mar. 30, 2002, at 11 a.m., in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home, New Philadelphia, with Rev. Warren F. Outhwaite officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Burial Park. Visitation will be will be Saturday, 10-11 a.m., in the funeral home.
