Evelyn Lucille Williams, age 87, of New Philadelphia died peacefully, Saturday, February 1, 2014 in New Dawn Retirement Center following a period of declining health.
A daughter of the late Roy Herbert and Mary Catherine (Sweeny) Yost, Evelyn was born at New Philadelphia on October 17, 1926.
She attended New Philadelphia High School and on August 10, 1944, Evelyn married the love of her life, Ernest Williams. Together, the couple reared two daughters and shared in 43 years of marriage prior to his passing on November 16, 1987.
Throughout her lifetime, Evelyn worked for a number of local businesses that included: Heller Brothers, The Delphian Restaurant, The Chatterbox, Allied Machine and Hennis Care Center at Dover. She was a member of the Mineral City United Methodist Church, the former Roswell Senior Center and the New Philadelphia VFW and The Ladies Auxiliary.
Evelyn loved socializing with her friends and playing Bingo. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and was especially fond of holiday gatherings.
She will be missed by her two daughters, Barbara E. (Leo) Weinhardt of New Philadelphia and Martha J. (David) Davis of Canton; three grandchildren, Dawn (fiancé, Rusty Galbraith) Rennicker of Tippecanoe, John (Amanda) Weinhardt of New Philadelphia and Angela (Donald) Lorkiewicz of Georgia.
Completing the family are 10 great-grandchildren, Brandon, Leah, Nolan, John, Maze, Chelsea, Madison, Andrew, Melissa and Anna; a great-great-granddaughter, Cori, numerous nephews and her best friend, Sarah Saffell.
In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by a brother, Roy J. “Junior” Yost.
The family will greet guests one hour prior to services on Friday, February 7, 2014 from 1:00 – 2:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Pastor Bob Smith will lead a service in the funeral home’s chapel on Friday at 2:00 PM. Burial alongside her husband will follow in the Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia. Following services, all are invited to join the family in the social hall of the Mineral City United Methodist Church.
