Eva Jeannette Spittle, age 83, of Hennis Care Centre at Dover and formerly of New Philadelphia went to be with the Lord early Wednesday, January 14, 2015.
A daughter of the late Sylvester and Ruth (Moore) Teter, Eva was born at Leesville, Ohio on July 5, 1931.
She loved working in retail with the public. Over the years, Eva was employed by Rinks Department Store, Nichols Discount City and ultimately retired from Kmart. She was an avid follower of the Cleveland Indians, Browns, Cavaliers and The Ohio State Buckeyes. She love being outdoors planting and taking care of her flower gardens. Eva was also known for her love of music and dancing.
She will be sadly missed by her children, Marlyn (Jerry) Hoffman of New Philadelphia, Charles E. “Gene” (Sue Ann) Spittle of Wooster; Robert J. “Bob” (Keddi) Spittle of Stone Creek, Kevin J. Spittle and Lori (Terry Geers) Spittle all of New Philadelphia; a son-in-law, Perry Myers of Sugarcreek; a very special Sister and Brother, Shirley (Wayne) Inman of Georgia and Carl “Corky” Teter of New Philadelphia.
Completing the family are her beloved grandchildren, Katie Spittle, Nick Spittle, Mack Spittle, Ashley Spittle, Erin (Joel) Crilow, Bunny (Tim) Sheehy, Buffy (Travis) Hostetler, Butch (Cindy) Myers, and Tina Hoffman; her great grandchildren, Liam Crilow, Geddy Gray, Timmy Sheehy, Tyler Sheehy, Tristian Hostetler, Hunter Hostetler, Cody Hostetler, Luke Myers, Abigail Myers, Alyssa Himes, Ciara Himes and Michaela Himes.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Jenny Lu Myers and her grandson, Michael Hoffman; her siblings, Minnie Teter Briggs, Charles “Chuck” Teter and Frank Teter, Dorothy Preston Echard, Irene Preston Sidwell, William ”Bill” Preston, Reuben “Rudy” Preston, James Preston.
A very special thank you is extended to the staff of Hennis Care Centre at Dover for the love and compassionate care they provided to Eva.
The family will greet guests on Friday, January 16, 2015 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Pastor Carl Kandel will lead a service celebrating Eva’s life in the funeral home’s chapel on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in Union Hill Cemetery. Following the services, all are invited to join the family for a time of food and fellowship in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the New Philadelphia funeral home.
