Eugene F. Gopp

Eugene F. “Goppy” Gopp, 67, of New Philadelphia, died Thursday, March 16, 2006, at Aultman hospital following a lengthy illness.A son of the late Roland and Mary Bour Gopp, Gene was born February 7, 1939 at the family home, in New Philadelphia.He was retired from Zimmer Orthopedic Surgical Products after 35 years of service. He was a 1957 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and served in the United States Navy.Gene belonged to the New Philadelphia VFW, the New Philadelphia Eagles, enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors and liked the Garfield and Scooby Doo cartoon characters.He is survived by his wife, Janet Dale Gopp; whom he married November 23, 1985; brothers, Jerry (Retha) Gopp and Terry Gopp, both of New Philadelphia; father-in-law, John (Anna) Dale, of Dover; sister-in-law, Judy Russell, of Dover; several nieces and nephews and his pet cocker spaniel, Angel. Gene was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.Visitation will be held Sunday, March 19, 2006, from 1:00 till 2:00 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory in New Philadelphia.
