Ethel N. (Hykes) Wells, age 95, of Country Club Retirement Center, at Dover went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 27, 2008. Born on September 15, 1912 at Strasburg, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Marbel Hykes. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of New Philadelphia, Ohio for nearly 70 years and was also a member of the Golden Circle Christian Fellowship.She was preceded in death by her loving husband Floyd W. Wells who died on August 28, 1986. They celebrated 53 wonderful years of marriage. She is survived by three daughters, Nancy A. (Don) Leggett of New Philadelphia, Ohio, Karen K. (Richard) Wasielewski of Winston-Salem, NC, Joan L. (Dave) Connelly of Orlando, FL, and son, Richard F. (Sally Wassem) Wells of Chesterfield, VA. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren; Valerie A. Leggett of New Philadelphia, OH., Donald J. (Vi) Leggett II of Bolivar, OH., Juli K. (Shane) Swaim of McCleansville, NC., Shari J. Mauk of Winston-Salem, NC, Kari A. (David) Canavan of Lexington, NC, Marc D. Connelly of Cincinnati, OH, and Abbey W. (David) Borovatz of Midlothian, VA. Ethel will be sadly missed by her 6 great grandchildren; Chase A. Leggett of New Philadelphia, OH, Kathryn E. Leggett of Columbus, OH, Kristina K., W. Matthew, and Jonathan R. Mauk of Winston-Salem, NC., and Nathan W. Swaim of McCleansville, NC; and a great-great grandson Ethan P. Leggett of Bolivar, OH. Completing the family are four sisters and one brother; Patricia Carpenter of Dennison, OH, Ruth Coniglio of Columbus, OH, Carol Petricola of Dover, OH, Myrtle Zorn of Brook Park, OH, and Darrell D. Hykes of Akron, OH. In addition to her parents and husband; she was preceded in death by 5 brothers, 1 sister, and 1 grandson, Taylor James Wells.Ethel will be missed by her loving family and will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, as well as a prayer warrior for her entire family. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 29, 2008 from 3:00 â?? 5:00 PM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover with a celebration of life service scheduled to begin at 5:00PM. Immediately following Ethel’s service the family would like to invite friends to join them for a time of food and fellowship in the adjoining Hospitality Center. A private burial will take place at a later date in the Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.
