Ethel Fay Lanzer, 83, of New Philadelphia, died quietly Monday afternoon, December 29, 2003 at New Dawn Health Care Center following a lengthy illness.Mrs. Lanzer was born in Dover to the late Ralph E. and Myrtle M. Holbein Lute. She was a wonderful homemaker who enjoyed gardening, crocheting and reading. Most of all, she liked spending time with her family.Those who will miss her most are her family, sons James A. (Sally) Fisher of New Philadelphia; Michael E. (Ann) Lanzer of Cambridge; stepdaughter, Mary (Isaac) Weller of Sugarcreek; brothers, Robert E. (Hellen) Lute of New Philadelphia and Edwin (Sally) Lute of Fostoria; sister, Betty Justice of New Philadelphia; daughter-in-law, Thelma Lanzer of New Philadelphia; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.Mrs. Lanzer’s son, Jeffrey A. Lanzer, preceded her in death December 9, 2002 and her husband, Charles E. Lanzer, in 1966.Visitation will be one-hour prior to the funeral, from 1:00 to 2:00 PM on Friday, January 2, 2004 in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 PM with Rev. Henry E. Mooney officiating. Burial next to her son Jeff will follow at Union Hill Cemetery in Sugarcreek. After the cemetery committal the family will receive friends in the Geib Family Center, immediately adjacent to the funeral home.Contributions honoring Mrs. Lanzer may be made to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 W.
