Ethel F. Richards

Ethel F. Richards, 93, of Dover, died unexpectedly at Union Hospital on Thursday afternoon, March 11, 2004 following a week-long illness.Ethel was born in New Philadelphia on January 26, 1911. She married Alphonse Ortense, and relocated to Canton. He preceded her in death in 1953. In 1956 she married Joseph Richards and the couple lived in Dennison. Joe died in 1965. Ethel was a long-time member of the First Church of the Brethren in New Philadelphia.Survivors include her daughter, Beverly Jean Devore of New Philadelphia, four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and numerous cousins. In addition to her husbands, a grandson, Scott Devore, and her brother, Harry Lawrence, preceded Ethel in death.Visitation will be in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home from 1:00 to 2:00 PM on Monday, March 15, 2004. The graveside funeral service will follow at 2:30 PM with Rev. Max Canfield officiating at Evergreen Burial Park where she will be buried alongside Alphonse.To honor Ethel’s memory, contributions may be made to the First Church of the Brethren, 700 Fair Ave., NW, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
