E. Eileen Miller, age 82, of New Philadelphia died peacefully early Sunday, October 16, 2011 in her home with her family at her side.A daughter of the late William and Emma Broadbent Salomon, Eileen was born at Dover, Ohio on September 23, 1929.She was a graduate of New Philadelphia High School and a laborer for a number of area firms prior to beginning her career with the Tuscarawas County Board of Developmentally Disabled where she served as a bus driver for more than a decade.Eileen enjoyed life and had many hobbies and interests which included traveling, gambling, sewing, playing cards with her friends, watching the Cleveland Indians and NASCAR as well as spending time with her grandchildren. Additionally, she was a longtime member of Broadway United Methodist Church.Survivors include her children, Karen (Terry) Burky of Mineral City, Jackie Halter, Bill Halter Miller and Jamie, and Timothy Miller all of New Philadelphia; two brothers, Lloyd (Virginia) Salomon and William “Punk” (Cheryl) Salomon and her former husband, Dean Miller.Completing the family are four grandchildren, Michael (Michele) Yockey, Lori (Andrew) Creager, Brandon (Amanda) Miller and Jordan Miller; three great-grandchildren, Isaac Creager, Maia Creager and Asher Creager as well as numerous nieces and nephews and many special and close friends.In addition to her parents, Eileen was preceded in death by her first husband, Jack Halter and a sister and brother-in-law, Mildred and Ed Degville.A graveside service will be led by Eileen’s nephew, Pastor William Salomon and Pastor Bill Sowers on Friday, October 21, 2011, at 2 PM in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia. Following the service, a dessert reception will be held in the social hall of Broadway United Methodist Church at New Philadelphia.Those unable to attend may send the family personal condolences by signing the online guest registry located on the funeral home’s website.The family requests memorial contributions in Eileen’s name be directed to Community Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 W Third Street, Dover, Ohio 44622 or to Broadway United Methodist Church, 120 Church Street SE, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
