Esther was also preceded in death by her parents, five siblings, and a grandson.

She is survived by her children Dorothy C. Hurley of Carey, N. C.; David E. (Betty) George, Dover, Ohio; Susan Elisabeth George, Fayetteville, N.C.; Esther L. (Martin) Webster, Toulon, Ill., Jeri J. Beloved as a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Esther was recognized by family and friends for her skills as a maker of dozens of quilts and afghans that were generously bestowed on family members as keepsakes. Esther was formerly an enthusiastic bowler who enjoyed competing in both women’s and seniors’ mixed leagues. She savored travel with her husband and living in various states during their military and federal civilian service covering a 40-year period, and she was active in women’s clubs at various Air Force bases. Esther enjoyed being a homemaker, mother, grandmother, and playing cards or bingo with her friends. She was the mainstay of her family during the frequent times that her husband served abroad or traveled to various states and foreign countries as part of his military and civil service duties. She also took pride in rock gardens she designed and built at the family’s homes in Northern Virginia and Canyon Lake, Texas.

A pet lover, she was especially fond of her devoted cats. Her children were born in Nebraska, California, Virginia, Hawaii and Texas. A member of the First United Methodist Church in New Philadelphia, Esther also attended services at First Christian Church at New Philadelphia.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation will follow a private family viewing at Geib Funeral Home in Dover. A memorial service for family will be conducted at Dover Burial Park.

Arrangements will be handled by Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home in Dover/New Philadelphia, Ohio and she will be buried in Dover Burial Park next to her husband. As was her wish, there will be no formal memorial services.
