Esther L. Beans, 88, of New Philadelphia, and a resident of Park Village Southside at New Philadelphia, passed away while surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday, September 26, 2021 in Regency Hospital – East at Cleveland following a brief illness.
Born in Roswell, she was the daughter of the late John A. and Julia E. (Popelas) Pisony. Esther had retired from the former Kerr Quality Auto Repair at New Philadelphia, where she had worked as a bookkeeper. Following her retirement, Esther started her second career serving as a hostess for many years at the Geib Family Center at New Philadelphia.
She attended New Pointe Community Church at Dover and loved taking trips to Myrtle Beach or Put-In-Bay. Esther loved many things in life, including working puzzles and was an avid reader. However, what she loved most was being with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and never missed one of their sporting events.
On May 19, 1951, Esther married Jack T. Beans and together they shared almost 58 years of marriage before Jack’s passing in May 2009. Surviving are her two daughters, Jackie (Terry) Rieger of New Philadelphia and Susan Sankey and her companion Mike Jones of New Philadelphia; five grandchildren, Tera (Brian) Myers, Ryan (Jamie) Rieger, Drew Sankey and his companion Amanda Hartline, Ethan Beans and Taylor (Nathan) Staley; her great-grandchildren; Sophie and Kyle Myers, Preston, Parker and Peyton Rieger, Phoebe Sankey and Liza and Baker Staley.
In addition to her parents and her husband, a son, Eddie A. Beans, three brothers, two sisters and five half-sisters also precede Esther in death.
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 1, 2021 from 9:30 to 11 AM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Esther’s life will begin at 11 AM with Pastor Brian Flood officiating. Burial will be alongside her husband and her son in Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia. A reception will be held in the Geib Family Center immediately following the committal service.
To honor Esther’s love for reading, the family requests that memorial contributions be directed to the Dover Public Library, 525 North Walnut Street, Dover, Ohio 44622.
