Ernest W. Voshall, 91, of New Philadelphia, died January 19, 2007 in Country Club Retirement Campus at Dover.A son of the late Frank and Mattie (Rosemond) Voshall, Ernest was born February 8, 1915 at New Philadelphia, Ohio.He enlisted with the United States Navy on March 31, 1944 and served during World War II. Ernest then received an honorable discharge on January 1, 1946.Ernest was a life long member of the New Philadelphia area and for the past two and a half years, he was a resident of Country Club Retirement Campus at Dover. During his time their, he thoroughly enjoyed the friendships he formed their as well as the activities he was able to take part in.He retired from Continental Banking Company where he was employed as a salesman. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church at New Philadelphia as well as a life member of the New Philadelphia Elks Lodge. Ernest was also a member of the Teamsters Union and during his teen years, he served with the Civilian Conservation Corps.He was an avid outdoorsman and he enjoyed both vegetable and floral gardening. Ernest also enjoyed reading and playing cards and he was an avid Cleveland Indians Fan. But most of all, Ernest dearly loved his family and he cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Ernest is survived by two daughters, Linda (Ward) Holdsworth and Bonnie (Tom) Yanders both of New Philadelphia; grandchildren, Scott Holdsworth, Kristin Hawk and Jay and Todd Yanders and great-grandchildren, Tyler and Erik Holdsworth, Sam and Spencer Hawk and Kelsey, Kari, Lucas and Rachel Yanders.He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Maxine Eileen (Mason) Voshall; one great-grandson, Joseph Hawk; two sisters, Roselynn Graff and Dorothy Patterson and five brothers, Benjamin, Clyde, Delbert, Charles and Robert Voshall.Friends and family may call on Saturday, March 24, 2007 from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Lee Eilert officiating. Inurnment will follow in East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia where the New Philadelphia V.F.W. Post #1445 will perform military honors. Following the graveside service, a memorial reception will be held in the Geib Family Center at New Philadelphia.Memorial contributions may be made in Ernest’s name to The Elevator Fund c/o Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 202 East High Avenue, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
