Ernest F. Frank

February 14, 1938 — December 11, 2014

Ernest F. Frank, 76, of Dover, OH, went home to be with the Lord, December 11, 2014 after suffering a stroke while deer hunting with friends.

Ernie was born at home near Chili, OH, in 1938, the son of the late Herman and Helen (Slack) Frank.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Alice Ann (Strasser) Frank, originally of West Lafayette; a son, Frederick, of New Concord; a daughter, Susie (Tim) Nuss and two grandchildren, Frankie and Elijah, of Gahanna. Ernie is also survived by nine siblings, Richard (Barbara), Esther (John) Matis, Norma (Bob) Shank, Al (Jane), Harold (Janet), Harry, Donald (Karen), Theresa McConnell, and Donna Olinger; and one sister-in-law, Brenda.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Larry.

Upon graduating from Fresno High School in 1956, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served two years in Germany. Ernie retired from the U.S.D.A. Soil and Water Conservation Service and took great joy in working with farm families in Tuscarawas and Holmes Counties. Ernie was a co-founder and developer of Zoar Village Golf Course. He was also the owner of Franks’ Tree Farm and enjoyed selling Christmas trees and landscaping trees for many years. Ernie was a member of Ruslin Hills Church. He enjoyed the outdoors and liked to help others by sharing his knowledge of soil and water. Most of all, he loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. A service celebrating Ernie’s life will be held in the funeral home’s chapel on Monday beginning at 11 am with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Immediately following the service, friends are invited to the Geib Family Center, located adjacent to the funeral home, where a meal will be shared. Burial will be held at 3 p.m. in Coshocton County Memory Gardens where the Coshocton VFW #1330 will render military honors.

Contributions in honor of Ernie may be made to Community Hospice of New Philadelphia who served him and his family so beautifully. Their address is 716 Commercial Ave. SW, New Philadelphia.
