Erma Rosina Toth, age 91, of New Philadelphia died Thursday, November 12, 2009, in Country Club Retirement Center at Dover.A daughter of the late Angelo and Julia (Missanik) Turrin, Erma was born on May 5, 1918, at Roswell, Ohio.Erma was a graduate of Midvale High School and spent the majority of her life caring for her family. She was an accomplished cook and was known for her delicious pies. During her spare time, Erma also enjoyed working with flowers and tending to the flower gardens surrounding her home.Additionally, Erma was a member of Sacred Heart Church at New Philadelphia where she also served as a member of the Altar Society. She leaves behind a family that includes her former husband Joseph Toth, a daughter, Patricia (Michael) Childers, of Zanesville; two sons, William J. (Pam) Toth of Portage, Michigan, and Robert J. (Deborah) Toth of Canton; two sisters, Shirley Turrin of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Julia (Chet) Tarulli of New Philadelphia and a sister-in-law, Lois Turrin of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews complete the family.In addition to her parents, Erma was preceded in death by three brothers, Albert Turrin, Richard Turrin, and Bernard Turrin.The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 15, 2009, from 2:00 Â? 5:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A Christian wake service will be held at 4:45 PM on Sunday. Monsignor George J. Schlegel will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, November 16, 2009, at 10:30 AM in Sacred Heart Catholic Church at New Philadelphia. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia.Following services, the family will return to St. Ambrose Hall, adjacent to Sacred Heart Church, where a meal and fellowship will be shared.Memorial contributions in Erma’s name may be directed to the Sacred Heart Altar Society, 139, 3rd Street NE, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
