Erma M. Lesjak, 78, of New Philadelphia, died suddenly Sunday, June 2, 2002, at Union Hospital in Dover.Born January 3, 1924, in Tuscarawas County, she was the daughter of the late James and Angelina Parolini Mattevi. She attended New Philadelphia High School. Erma and her husband were co-owners, along with Monte and Irene Parolini, of the former Orchard Inn in Wainwright. She was a cook for the Quaker Restaurant in New Philadelphia and also in the cafeterias of Sacred Heart School and the New Philadelphia City Schools. Erma was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Senior Citizens, the LCBA, and the Altar Society, where she had previously served as president.Surviving are her husband of 52 years, Louis Lesjak, of the home, whom she married December 13, 1949; four sons, Jeff (Linda) Lesjak and Donald (Fran) Wemple both of New Philadelphia, Jim (Laurel) Wemple of Dover, Rodney (Debra) Lesjak of New Philadelphia; five grandchildren, Michael Lesjak, Kim Martin, Jami Ley, Stephani Krueger, and Zach Wemple; four great-grandchildren, Jarod Ley, Devon Ley, Olivia Martin, and Jonah Krueger; two sisters, Gloria White of New Philadelphia and Eileen (Bo) Contini of Lima; one brother, Vic Mattevi of Lima.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Norma Heck and a sister-in-law, Marilyn Mattevi.A funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, June 5, 2002, at 11:30 AM at Sacred Heart Church in New Philadelphia with Msgr. George J. Schlegel officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in New Philadelphia. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 4, 2002, from 6-9 PM with a Christian Wake Service conducted at 8:30 PM. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Sacred Heart Organ Fund, 139 Third Street NE, New Philadelphia, Ohio, 44663.
