Erma Lucille White, age 87, of New Philadelphia died peacefully Sunday morning, February 5, 2006 in Schoenbrunn Health Care Center. Born March 25, 1918 at Dover, she was a daughter of the late Forrest and Anna Haney Espenschied. Erma grew up with her family on Blacksnake Hill Â? east of Dover and attended a one room schoolhouse until high school. Following graduation from Dover High School, Erma worked as a press operator at the former Harmon Dry Cleaners. She was a former member of the St. Johns United Church of Christ at Dover. On July 30, 1955, Erma married John Francis White. Erma was a homemaker for most of her life. She and John enjoyed traveling in later years, and until illness prevented her from travel, they frequently made trips to Kentucky to attend live country music shows. Erma’s family also includes two daughters; Joann and her husband Don Rogers of Midvale, and Carol and her husband Virgil Hamilton of Voss, Texas, three sons; Regis and wife Roxanne Blackson of Phoenix, Arizona, Ralph and wife Karolle Blackson of Ventura California, and the late Robert Blackson who died in 2005. Sixteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren 2 great-great grandchildren, a daughter-in-law Roberta Blackson of New Cumberland, Ohio and two sisters, Frances Swinderman of Dover and Violet Haller of Sebring, Ohio complete the family. In addition to her parents, Erma was preceded in death by two sisters, Beatrice Carmola and Katherine Ziegler. Friends are invited to call Wednesday February 8 from 12:30 to 1:30 in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Elder Glenn Carlisle will lead services at 1:30 in the funeral home’s chapel. Entombment will follow at East Avenue Cemetery Mausoleum.
