Erma Jean Lehman, 85, of Stone Creek died Saturday, September 30, 2017 in Union Hospital at Dover following a sudden illness.
Born at Gilmore, Ohio on August 2, 1932, Erma was one of four children born to the late Dallas H. and Ethal Irene Gatchell Gilmore.
Following her graduation from high school, Erma married Edwin E. Jackson and together the couple had two sons, Robert and Jeffrey. She later married Robert F. Lehman and had a son and a daughter, Robert L. and Mary.
For a handful of years, Erma was employed by FLEX Technologies at Baltic and later Express Packaging at New Philadelphia. She loved to crochet, quilt, and sew, care for animals and be outdoors. She also enjoyed walking and traveling.
She is survived by her four children, Robert (Debbie) Jackson of Beach City, Jeffrey Jackson of Stone Creek, Robert L. (Jennifer) Lehman of Stone Creek and Mary (Derl) Phelps of New Philadelphia; a brother, Harold (Dawn) Gilmore of New Philadelphia; five grandchildren, Rebecca, Paula, Jennifer, Brooke, and Jimmy; 12 great-grandchildren; a great-great grandson and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Erma was preceded in death by her former husband, Edwin Jackson and her husband, Robert F. Lehman, whom she shared 44 years of marriage prior to his passing on August 16, 2006, and two sisters, Ada Melzer and Ruth Gilmore.
The family will greet guests on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 from 5-8 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A service celebrating Erma’s life will be led by Pastor Brian Flood in the funeral home’s chapel on Thursday, October 5 at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow in the Ridgecrest Memorial Gardens at Dover.
