Erma Clagg

Erma Clagg, 70, of Midvale, died Wednesday, April 23, 2003 at Union Hospital in Dover due to health complications.Born February 2, 1933, in Barnhill, she was the daughter of John and Blanche Feister Hunter. Erma was a 1951 graduate of Midvale High School. She worked as Income Tax Administrator, Board of Public Affairs Clerk and Village Clerk for 22 years. She also began the income tax program for the village of Midvale. Following Erma’s retirement in 1993, she was a City Council Member in Midvale up until the time of her death. She enjoyed crocheting, needlework, playing bingo and Internet board games, and greatly enjoyed her family. She was also an advocate of Tuscora Park and enjoyed having lunch there and feeding the birds. Erma was a member of AARP and Midvale T-N-T Club. Surviving is her husband of 48 years, Denton Clagg, of the home, whom she married March 17, 1956; daughter, JoAnn Clagg-Locker and husband Michael Locker of Midvale two sisters, Loretta (Frank) Geblin of Dover, Bertha Barcus of New Philadelphia; one brother, Alan (Sherry) Hunter of Barnhill; many very special nieces and nephews; and a beloved canine grandson, Brady, a golden retriever. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.In accordance with Erma’s wishes, private family services will be held on Saturday, April 26, at 10:30 AM at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home in New Philadelphia with Rev. Gordon Myers officiating. Burial will follow at East Avenue Cemetery in New Philadelphia.Erma was an avid supporter of Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 W. Third Street Dover, OH 44622 and the MBB Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 1, Midvale, OH 44653, and in her honor, memorial contributions may be made to either of these organizations.
