Erma Augusta Gerber

Erma Augusta Gerber, 88, of Hennis Care Center, Dover, died peacefully early Wednesday morning, August 13, 2003. Born in New Philadelphia on March 19, 1915, she was a daughter of the late Noah J. and Blanche Gopp Grimm. She was married to Arlos Dean “Bud” Gerber for 37 years prior to his death in l990. A member of the First Christian Church in New Philadelphia, Erma was active in the Golden Circle Christian Fellowship, and volunteered for many years as a Gray Lady at Union Hospital. She especially loved flowers and spent many hours in her garden. Surviving are two daughters, Marlene Butler of LaCanada, CA and Claudia Rae Gerber of Tujunga, California; four sons, Paul E (Becky) Beitzel, Kennard “Ken” (Barbara) Beitzel, Fred C. Beitzel, and John A. (Donna) Beitzel all of New Philadelphia; 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents and husband, seven sisters, three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild preceded her in death.Services will be Saturday, August 16, 2003, at 11:00 AM at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home in New Philadelphia, with visitation one hour prior to the service. She will be buried alongside her husband at East Avenue Cemetery. The family requests that memorial contributions be made the charity of the donor’s choice.
