Erma A. Boggiani

January 1, 1919 — August 21, 2012

Erma A. Boggiani, age 93, of Midvale, passed away peacefully late Tuesday evening, August 21, 2012, in Union Hospital at Dover.

Born at Barnhill on New Year’s Day, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Rosalia Marignani Fondriest, Sr.

The 1936 Valedictorian of Midvale’s Graduating Class, Erma had mastered not only English, but also Italian, French and Latin languages.

On July 28, 1941, she wed Francis Boggiani, and the couple went on to observe twenty-eight anniversaries together prior to his death on April 23, 1970.

Erma was a member of the former St. Paul’s Catholic Church at Midvale, and served on the church Altar Society there until it closed. At that time, Erma and her family became members of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at Dennison.

She’ll be remembered for her fabulous cooking, for the treats she made for young children in her neighborhood, and for the special place she had in her heart for her loving granddaughter. Erma was a familiar face to many of the young children who attended school at Midvale where she worked in the cafeteria later in her life.

Survivors include her son Gene and his wife Lillian Boggiani of Midvale, and a granddaughter, Lisa Boggiani, also of Midvale.

A sister, Anna Ricklic of Dover, and six nieces and nephews; Robert (Georgie) Zontini of Brightwood, Rosalie (Robert) Sciarini of New Philadelphia, Sammy Ray (Barb) Zontini of Houston, Texas, and Nancy (Lloyd) Burkhart, Katheryn Baio, Marybell Wisintainer, all of New Philadelphia, complete the family.

In addition to her parents, and husband, Erma is preceded in death by her three sisters, Emma, and Olga Fondriest, Edith Zontini, and her brother, Frank Fondriest.

Friends are invited to call Friday, August 24, from 4-7 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia where a Christian Wake Service will commence at 6:45.

Father Anthony P. Lonzo, will celebrate Mass of Christian Burial Saturday morning at 10 in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at Dennison.

Burial will follow, alongside her husband, in Sacred Heart Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia.

Following the committal service, family and friends will gather for a reception luncheon, in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the New Philadelphia funeral home.
