Eric Richard Hampton

Eric Richard Hampton, 30, of Strasburg, died Sunday, August 23, 2015.

A son of Jack R. Hampton II and Debbie A. Gadfield, Eric was born July 13, 1985 at Dover, Ohio.

Eric graduated from Garaway High School in 2003. While in high school, Eric was a member of the wrestling team where he was a state qualifier.

He enjoyed riding motocross, playing the guitar with his dad and friends and shooting pool. Most of all, Eric enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by his father and step-mother, Jack and Diane Hampton; his mother, Debbie Gadfield; his sisters, April Parker and Heather (friend, Trevor Jarvis) Rochester; his step-brothers, Brian, Brandon (Ann) and Tim Gridley; five nephews, several aunts and uncles and the parents of his late best friend, Ivan and Susie Hickenbottom.

Eric was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Julia Hampton Gonter and Jack R. Hampton; his maternal grandparents, Delsie Kaiser and Clyde Garner and his best friend, Scott Hickenbottom.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover. A funeral service celebrating Eric’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 27, 2015 in the funeral home with Pastor Rod McBride officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Union Cemetery at Strasburg.
