Elva G. Cooper, 101, New Philadelphia, formerly of Mt. Morris, PA, died Saturday, November 29, 2003, at the Country Club Retirement Center in Dover.Born in Bergoo, WV, on January 11, 1902, she was the daughter of the late Rev. William and Rettie Green Beal.A homemaker, Elva was also employed as a telephone operator for the Bell Telephone Company for 30 years. She was a former member of the Mt. Morris United Methodist Church.She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter G. Cooper, who died in l962, but is survived by their two daughters, Helen (John) Grier and Mary Jo (Walter) Horton, both of New Phildelphia; two sons, James (Nancy) Cooper of Morgantown, W.Va., and Allan Cooper of Raleigh, NC; eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.In addition to her husband and her parents, a daughter, Ruth, and one great-great grandchild also preceded her in death.Services to celebrate Elva’s 101 years of life will be Wednesday, December 3, 2003, at 1:00 pm at the Milliken Throckmorton Funeral Home in Mt. Morris, PA, with the Rev. Robert Fox officiating. Friends may call on the family at the Pennsylvania funeral home on Wednesday morning between the hours of 11:00 am and 1:00 pm. Burial will be at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Mt. Morris. Local arrangements were under the care of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory in New Philadelphia.
