Elmer Gale Fait

Elmer “Gale” Fait, 87, of New Philadelphia passed away December 17, 2013 from complications from a fall on winter ice.

Born September 15, 1926, he was the son of the late Vencel and Ethel (Strickmaker) Fait. After graduating from New Philadelphia High School, Gale continued his formal education at Ohio University, where he received his bachelor’s degree and was a graduate assistant.

His professional career began at Albany Felt in New York, and he ultimately retired as a supervisor of Industrial Engineering with Timken.

Gale honorably served his country in the United States Army in Japan. After his discharge, he returned home and in 1949, he married his lifelong companion and friend, the former Nancy Lee Fabiano.
Together, they enjoyed attending performances at the Kent State Performing Arts Center and dining at the Tuscarawas County Senior Center. Gale also loved watching professional sports on television and participating in home fitness.

Gale will be deeply missed by his wife, Nancy; his children, Philip Gale (Arlene) Fait of Kentucky, David Alan Fait of New Philadelphia, and Cynthia Fait of Arkansas; 5 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Pat (Bernard) Breehl of New Philadelphia, and Sandy (Phil) Estepp of Dover.

Visitation will be held Thursday, December 19, 2013 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A Christian Wake Service will commence at the conclusion of visitation. Father Jeff Coning will officiate a funeral service will be held Friday beginning at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home’s chapel. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia.

Memorial contributions in Gale’s memory may be directed to either Sacred Heart Church, 139 3rd NE, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663 or Community Hospice House, 716 Commercial Ave SW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
