Ella Deloris “Dee” Stover, 88, of New Philadelphia, died Monday, March 12, 2012 in Union Hospital at Dover following a period of declining health.
A daughter of the late William and Ida (Buehler) Stocksdale, Dee was born September 4, 1923 at New Philadelphia, Ohio.
Dee retired from New Philadelphia School District where she drove school buses for more than 17 years. She was a member of the New Philadelphia V.F.W. Post #1445 Auxiliary and the former New Philadelphia Eagles.
She had a passion for dancing and did so until her health no longer permitted her to do so. Dee also enjoyed fishing in Canada.
She is survived by her sons, Dale (Joyce) Zeigler of New Philadelphia and Smoke (Dixie) Stover of Baltic; her grandchildren, Billy Jo and Bobby Jo, Julie (Mark) Murphy, Joe Zeigler and Aaron and Sarah Stover; numerous great grandchildren and a sister, Elsie Jenkins of Wadsworth, Ohio.
Dee was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Dale Zeigler; her second husband, Norman Stover; her third husband, Chuck Stover; two daughters, Helen Zurcher and Violet Wells; a son, Robert Zeigler and a brother, William Stocksdale.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 15, 2012 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover. A funeral service celebrating Dee’s life will be held on Friday, March 16, 2012 at 12 p.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Hugh Berry officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgecrest Memory Gardens at Dover.
