Elizabeth Norman

Elizabeth Ann “Betsy” Norman, age 56, of New Philadelphia, died Tuesday, April 14, 2009, in Union Hospital at Dover following a period of declining health. A daughter of the late Herbert and Martha (Schmidt) McConnell, Betsy was born at Quito, Ecuador on May 1, 1952.A graduate of New Philadelphia High School, Betsy went on to study in the field of Radiology; where she worked for a number of years in Union Hospital at Dover as a Radiology Technician.Betsy loved to volunteer her time. She was a Hospice Volunteer years ago. She also helped with area churches and even volunteered at the hospital. Additionally, she enjoyed the companionship that came along with caring for animals.She is survived by her husband of thirty-two years, John Norman; a daughter, Cindy (Chris) Kaletka; a son, David (Shana) Norman both of New Philadelphia; two granddaughters, Mallory and Carolyn.A brother, Robert (Jane) McConnell of Edinboro, Pennsylvania; an uncle, Eugene Schmidt of Michigan, and two nephews complete the family.In keeping with Betsy’s wishes, her body will be cremated through the care of Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory at Dover. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in the Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.The family requests that memorial contributions in Betsy’s name be sent to the Tuscarawas County Humane Society, PO Box 92, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663 or to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 W. Third Street, Dover, Ohio 44622.
