Elizabeth Fan Boord, age 73 of New Philadelphia died peacefully, Wednesday, December 11, 2013 while in the care of Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia.
A daughter of the late Eldy and Erma (Founds) Mays, Fan, as she was known by family and friends was born at East Liverpool on January 19, 1940.
She attended school at East Liverpool and upon relocating to the Tuscarawas Valley worked as an administrative assistant for Community Mental Health Care for nearly a decade and later served as a private healthcare giver to her granddaughter for more than 20 years and volunteered for many years at the Salvation Army.
Fan had a passion for shopping and finding yard sales. She also enjoyed craft projects, vacationing and visiting her sister in North Carolina and taking time to spend holiday gatherings with her family. She especially loved the Christmas season and traveling to different areas looking at houses which were decorated with lights.
Above all, Fan was an individual who loved everyone unconditionally and while her family is sad to see her go from earth, they rejoice in the fact that she is with her Lord and Savior in Heaven and her ailing body of old has now been made new and whole once again.
She will not be forgotten by those who loved her deeply; her husband, James Boord, whom she married on February 4, 1995; her children, Tina Applegarth of New Philadelphia, Treva (Blaine) Jackson of Gnadenhutten, Craig (Twila) Schwartz of New Philadelphia, and Beth (Larry) Smith of Mineral City; a daughter-in-law, Beverly Logan-Schwartz of Dover; a brother and sister-in-law, “Bus” and “Pit” Mays, a sister, Mildred Gilbert all of East Liverpool; a sister, Eileen Touvelle of North Carolina and a brother, Milton (Martha) Mays of New Philadelphia.
Eleven beloved grandchildren, Pamela Feits, David (Nadine), Renee (Michael), Melinda (Duane) Crystal, Craig, Jr., Natalie (Danial), Kira (Brandon), Justin (Tabby), Kearie, and Brayden, 11 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews complete the family.
In addition to her parents, Fan was preceded in death by two sons, Curtis and Brett Schwartz; a son-in-law, David Applegarth, Sr.; a granddaughter, Colleen Bower; her first husband, Herb Feits; her second husband, John Schwartz and eight siblings.
The family would like to express a most sincere thank you to Aultman Hospital, MICU, the Akron Children’s Burn Unit, and Community Hospice of Tuscarawas County for their attentive and loving care.
Cremation has taken place through the care of Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory.
