Eleanor Huff

Eleanor Huff, age 88, of New Philadelphia, died Saturday, September 11, 2010, in Schoenbrunn Health Care Center at New Philadelphia following a period of declining health.A daughter of the late Edward H and Lucy B. Mowery Applegarth, Eleanor was born at St. Clairsville, Ohio on December 22, 1921.On March 3, 1945, Eleanor married Garnet V. Huff, who preceded her in death on March 2, 2009. Together, the couple reared seven children.As a homemaker, Eleanor enjoyed caring for her family and ensuring everyone, including the neighborhood children, always had something to eat. She also found enjoyment in traveling back to the area in which she was raised. Eleanor leaves behind five children, Richard Huff and Diane (Dan) Caldwell both of New Philadelphia, James Huff of Midvale, Debbie Fox of Uhrichsville and Terry Huff of New Philadelphia; her grandchildren, Rob Huff, Danielle Caldwell, Jaime (Steve) Stentz, Ryan Huff, Joshua (Tracy) Fox, Thad and Falishia Fox, Troy, Mick, Jarret, Ronnie Lonnie Melissa, Timmy, Sherri and Jason Huff and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.In addition to her parents and husband, Eleanor was preceded in death by two sons, Thomas and Tim Huff; a grandson, Brent Caldwell; two brothers and four sisters. In keeping with Eleanor’s wishes, cremation will take place through the care of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A private graveside service will be held at a later date in the East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia.
