Eleanor Dutton

Eleanor R. Dutton (Meyer), 83, of New Philadelphia, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2017 in the Inn at Northwood Village.

A daughter of the late Frederick and Catherine (Reese) Meyer, Eleanor was born August 1, 1933 at Dover, Ohio.

Eleanor was a graduate of New Philadelphia High School in 1951. She then worked in Union Hospital as a Ward Secretary. After marrying Dick, she spent 20 years traveling with her husband and children until his retirement from the United States Navy in 1971. Eleanor and her family then moved back to her home town of New Philadelphia and began to work for Sanese Vending Company at the Timken plant in New Philadelphia. She was a very strong and loving mother, and spent her time in California raising her children.

She is survived by her three daughters, Jamie (Tom) Dillon, Barbara Dutton, and Beth (Steve) Schwab; six grandchildren, Jennifer Dillon, Patrick (Brittany) Dillon, Christopher Dillon, Cate Kail, Samantha Schwab and Danielle Schwab; six great grandchildren, Madeline, Garrett, Easton, Rylee, Reagan and Brody; a sister Virginia Cunningham and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard “Dick” M. Dutton, whom she married November, 13, 1953 and her brother, Edward Meyer.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 15, 2017 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A service will follow at 10:30 AM in the funeral home’s chapel with Pastor Brian Flood officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Burial Park.
