Elda G. Greene

Elda G. Greene, age 71, of Mineral City, passed away peacefully early Saturday morning, July 28, 2012, in Aultman Hospital at Canton.

Born in her family home at Deersville January 20, 1941, she was a daughter of the late William J. and Bessie Barnhouse Knight.

Elda retired in 2006 following twenty-seven years of service as a housekeeper for the New Dawn Health Care Center of Dover.

She’ll be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed cooking for her family. She knitted, sewed, and crocheted, enjoyed playing card and board games, putting together puzzles, tending to her flower gardens and hunting. Her family holds dear the memories of her singing and playing her guitar.

Survivors include four of her seven children; William (Joyce) Knight of Mineral City, Donald Greene of Strasburg, Dora (Karl) Whyde of New Philadelphia, and Coreena (Brad) Rufener of Sugarcreek.

She’ll be sadly missed by seven grandchildren; Adam Knight of Mineral City, Michael (Jessica) Knight of Dover, Michelle Orr of Midvale, Nicole (Pat) Ross of Columbus, Dale (fiancée Tisha) Rufener of New Philadelphia, Danielle (friend, Timmy) Rufener of Uhrichsville, and Diana (fiancée Jamie) Thomas of Midvale.

Ten great-grandchildren and two half brothers; Brian (Kim) Knight of Florida and Buddy Knight of Uhrichsville, complete the family.

In addition to her parents, Elda is preceded in death by two sons; Eugene and Charles Greene, and a daughter, Diana Greene, four brothers; Ernie, Glenn, William Jr., and Tom Knight, and two sisters; Eula Hursh and Ethel Graybill.

Friends are invited to call Tuesday, July 31, from 2-4 and from 6-8 PM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover.

Pastor Darcy Miller will lead a funeral service celebrating Elda’s life Wednesday morning, August 1, at 11, in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover with inurnment to follow in Dover Burial Park.

A luncheon reception will follow the committal service in the dining room of the Geib Funeral Center at Dover.
