Elaine Laura Folkert, 92, of Worthington and formerly of New Philadelphia, died Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at the Laurels of Worthington.A daughter of the late Charles and Laura (Close) Hill, Elaine was born April 16, 1915 at Marietta, Ohio.She was a 1933 graduate of Newcomerstown High School and was formerly employed with the Earl E. Smith Company as a seamstress.On July 5, 1941 at Coshocton, Ohio, Elaine married the love of her life, Ray H. Folkert and together they raised two children, David and Douglas. Following World War II, they couple moved to New Philadelphia where Raymond worked for the Ohio Power Company. Raymond preceded Elaine in death in 1997.Elaine was a member of the First Presbyterian Church at New Philadelphia where she was formerly a deaconess. She was also an active volunteer for Union Hospital at Dover having been a former member of TWIG and the Pink Ladies. Elaine enjoyed sewing and gardening.She is survived by her sons, David Alan (Jacqueline) Folkert of Kimbolton, Ohio and Douglas Ray Folkert of Columbus, Ohio. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Rita Hill of Columbus, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents and her husband, Elaine was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Hill, Jr.The family will receive guests on Saturday, February 16, 2008 from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Elaine’s life will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dick Greenwood officiating.
