Elaine Carmany

Elaine A. Carmany, age 71 of New Philadelphia, passed away Friday, July 19, 2024, in New Dawn Retirement Center of Dover after a period of declining health.

Elaine was born on October 4, 1952 in Dennison. She was a daughter of the late Lloyd and Thelma (McKee) Smith.

On September 16, 1978 she married Homer Carmany and together they have enjoyed 45 years of marriage.

Elaine loved caring for her family, celebrating Christmas, and being a grandmother. When her first child was born, she stayed home to raise her family. She was an avid shopper who knew many of the sales clerks in Tuscarawas County on a first-name basis. She also loved jigsaw puzzles and everything Disney.

She is survived by her husband, Homer Carmany; children, Crystal (Bryan Mehaffey) Carmany, Stacey Carmany, and Scott Carmany; grandson, Xavier; sister, Marla (Ray) Kasunic; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Neil Carmany; brothers, Dave Smith, Jack Smith, and Mark Smith; and sister, Cheryl Swinderman.

Cremation care has been entrusted to Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home and Crematory. The family is planning a memorial celebration that will be held at a later date.
