Eileen M. Spencer

Eileen M. Spencer, 89, of New Philadelphia, went home to be with her Lord, Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at her home in New Philadelphia following a period of declining health.

A daughter of the late William “Joe” and Lydia V. (Hodkinson) Staneart, Eileen was born November 26, 1922 in Uhrichsville, Ohio.

She attended Uhrichsville High School and on November 18, 1942, she married her late husband, Herbert Spencer, who preceded her in death on March 24, 2005. They lived together in Uhrichsville before moving to New Philadelphia in 1964.

Eileen was a member of Roxford United Methodist Church and Roswell’s Keeping in Touch seniors. She also loved to travel, garden, fish, and support the Cleveland Indians.

She is survived by her daughters, Susan Y. (Spencer) Crim of New Philadelphia and Deanna M. Spencer (Allen Maybaugh) of New Philadelphia; sister, Starr (Chuck) Colander of Uhrichsville; grandchildren, Brian M. (Jessica) Crim of Marysville, Ohio and Lori M. (Shane) Moody of Wainwright; great-granddaughter, Faith M. Crim of Marysville, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.

Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her two siblings Beulah (Charles) Minor and William “Tommy” (Pauline) Staneart; and her nephew, William “Bill” Staneart.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 25, 2012 from 2 to 5 p.m. and again one hour prior to the service on Monday in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home and Crematory in New Philadelphia. Services will be conducted by The Rev. Ron Heasley on Monday, March 26, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Gnadenhutten Clay Cemetery.

A reception will be held in the Geib Family Center in New Philadelphia following the committal service.
