Eileen Elizabeth Crites, 81, of Gnadenhutten, died November 17, 2006, in Aultman Hospital at Canton, Ohio, with her family by her side.Eileen was born on September 11, 1925 to the late Jesse and Winifred McIntire. Eileen was a 1944 graduate of Midvale High School. On January 12, 1947, she married Earl B. “Pedo” Crites, who passed away in 1991. For more than forty years, Eileen could be seen serving coffee and brownies in the Twin City Hospital’s Coffee Bar, where she worked as a volunteer. She was a member of the Gnadenhutten Moravian Church where she was the first President of the Women’s Fellowship Circle, former choir member, former elder, and candle maker. Eileen’s most precious joys were her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly.In addition to her husband and parents, Eileen was preceded in death by her son, Gregory E. Crites, who died in 1980; sister, Jane Russell; brother, Adrian McIntire.She is survived by her son, Kip (Pam) Crites of West Lafayette; daughter, Susan (Roger) Mathews of Gnadenhutten; grandchildren, Chad Crites of Dunnellon, Florida, Kayci Crites, Brady Crites both of West Lafayette, Tyler Mathews, Amy Mathews, and Caitlin Mathews all of Gnadenhutten. Also twin sister, Irene Maurer of Dover and many nieces and nephews.Friends are invited to call Sunday, November 19, 2006, from 2:00-5:00pm in the Linn-Hert Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia.The Rev. Dr. Monte Canfield will lead the Crites funeral Monday morning, November 20, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. in the Gnadenhutten Moravian Church, with calling hours one hour prior to the service at the church.Those unable to attend are invited to send condolences to the family, sign an online guest registry, and view a memorial to Mrs. Crites by visiting the funeral home’s website.The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Gnadenhutten Moravian Church, P.O. Box 126, Gnadenhutten, Ohio 44629.
