Edwin Limbacher

Edwin Dale Limbacher, 83, of New Philadelphia, died Wednesday, October 3, 2018 in Schoenbrunn Healthcare at New Philadelphia following a period of declining health while surrounded by his family.

A son of the late Russell and Mary (Holderbaum) Limbacher, Edwin was born August 9, 1935 at Winfield, Ohio.

Edwin graduated from Dover High School in 1953. Then on December 14, 1954, he entered the United States Army and served at Fort Dix, New Jersey until receiving his honorable discharge on December 13, 1956.

On September 19, 1954, Edwin married the former Florence Bird and they raised four daughters, Nancy, Judy, Diana and Sharon. The couple shared 62 years of marriage prior to Florence’s passing on October 20, 2016.

He was an active member of Jerusalem Church and was retired from Dover Chemical where he worked as a purchasing agent. Edwin had a passion for the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He also enjoyed camping at Leesville Lake. Most of all, he cherished his family and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his daughters, Nancy McNutt of New Lexington, Ohio, Judy Tharp of Strasburg, Diana (Patrick) Gibson of New Philadelphia and Sharon Beahm of Texas; his former son-in-law, Karl Beahm of Texas; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; his siblings, Jerry (Karen) Limbacher, Norma Nicewander and Karen Jenei; and many nieces and nephews.

Edwin was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son-in-law, Mark Tharp; and his siblings, Isabelle, Paul, Pauline, Donald, Calvin, Russell and Glenn.

A graveside service celebrating Edwin’s life will be held on Monday, October 8, 2018 at 11:30 AM in Ridgecrest Memory Gardens at Dover with Todd McMath officiating. Following the service, a luncheon will be held in the Geib Family Center at New Philadelphia.
