Edward W. Meyer

Edward W. Meyer, age 73, of Dover, passed away Friday, August 1, 2008 at Oak Pointe Care Center in Baltic.Born June 19, 1935 in Dover, Edward was the son of the late Fred R. and Catherine (Reese) Meyer. After graduating from New Philadelphia High School, he served his country in the United States Army where he was a paratrooper in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged as a Corporal in 1965.Edward began his career with Greer Steel where he was employed more than 31 years before his retirement in 1990. He is survived by his children, Karen Jenkins of Dover, Cathy (Steve) Wells of Gnadenhutten and Edward (Jennifer) Meyer, Jr. of Bolivar; grandchildren, Alexandrea, Andrea, and Allicia Jenkins, Emily, Ethan, and Katie Meyer, and Aaron (Nicki) Wells, Travis and Tori Wells, and Candi (Ty) Enama; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Eleanor Dutton of Dover, and Virginia Cunningham of Sherrodsville.No public visitation will be held. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, August 7, 2008 in Ridgecrest Memory Gardens at Dover with the Dover V.F.W. Post #3463 conducting military honors.
