Edward S. Lawson, of New Philadelphia, died suddenly, Tuesday, April 2, 2002 at his home.Born in Mogadore, he was the son of the late Stanley and Dorothy Lawson. He was a graduate of East Canton High School and a U.S. Army veteran having served in Europe during W.W.II. While in Europe, he was attached to Patton’s 3rd Army landing in Normandy during D-Day and also served in France, Belgium and Holland.Ed was an avid reader and sports enthusiast; he especially liked boxing and football. He had retired from Peck Water Conditioning in Canton and was a member of the Moose Lodge in Canton and a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion in Canton.Surviving is his wife, the former Judie Albaugh, whom he married June 12, 1970; three daughters, Jean Appleton of Lawrenceburg, Indiana; Barbara A. Lawson of Cleveland and Julie Kelley of Mountain Home, Arkansas; three sons, Mark (Kathy) Lawson of Cincinnati, Thomas Lawson of Canton and Michael (Diane) Lawson of Cleveland; twelve grandchildren and one great grandson. Two brothers are also deceased.Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 6, 2002 at 2:30 PM at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home in New Philadelphia with Rev. Gordon Myers and Rev. Richard Rothrock officiating. Burial will be at Holmes Church Cemetery in New Philadelphia. Visitation will be held Saturday, April 6, 2002 from 1:30 to 2:30 PM in the funeral home.
