Edna Mae Lamonica, 93, of New Philadelphia, died Saturday, January 13, 2018 at New Dawn Retirement Community in Dover following a period of declining health.
Born in New Philadelphia on April 12, 1924, she was the daughter of the late William J. and Norma A. (Kalp) Martin.
Edna was a 1942 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and a member of Sacred Heart Church. She worked for the former Woolworth’s Store and the former T.G. & Y. Department Store in Dover where she was a sales clerk.
Edna is survived by her sister, Norma Jean Avon of New Philadelphia; her daughter-in-law, Becky Lamonica; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in passing by her husband, Leonard “Buck” Lamonica on January 13, 2003; a son, Gregory Lamonica; and siblings, Mildred Frank, Mary Margaret Finneran, Pauline Tylka and Richard Martin.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 19, 2018 at 11 AM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home with Father Jeff Coning officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in New Philadelphia. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 AM in the funeral home.
