Edmond “Skinner” Allman, 65, of New Philadelphia, died Monday, August 25, 2008 in New Dawn Retirement Community at Dover following a lengthy illness.A son of the late Harold and Charlotte (Jenkins) Allman, Ed was born August 5, 1943 at Dover, Ohio.He graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1961 and retired from Joy Manufacturing, known today as Howden-Buffalo, after 44 years of service.Ed was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church at New Philadelphia. He was also a member of the United Steel Workers Union as well as several area fraternal organizations. Ed enjoyed hunting, especially for rabbits, and he was an avid racing fan.He is survived by his wife, Susan (Stafford) Allman whom he married on June 27, 1964, his daughters, Sherry Rieger and her fiancé, Paul Sibila II of Massillon and Lori Williams and her husband, Don of Newcomerstown and eight grandchildren, Kevin and Kylie Rieger and Vanessa Sibila all of Massillon and Ashley, Britni, Ryan, Kadon and Kadee Williams all of Newcomerstown.Completing the family are two sisters, Joy Lenn of Dover and Joan Nigro of New Philadelphia; two sisters-in-law, Flora Allman of New Philadelphia and Bobbi Allman of Strasburg; a brother-in-law, Pete Peterson of New Carlisle, Ohio; his father-in-law, Doyle Stafford of Midvale; a brother-in-law, Doug (Brenda) Stafford of Midvale and numerous nieces and nephews.Ed was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Jane Moon, Marion Peterson and Joyce Luthy and three brothers, James, Charles and Robert Allman.The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 27, 2008 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Ed’s life will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Chapel with Monsignor George Schlegel officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia.
