Edith M. Goulder, age 88, of New Philadelphia, died Wednesday, March 3, 2010, in Country Club Retirement Center at Dover following a period of declining health.A daughter of the late J. Rush and Catherine D. (Savidge) Yelverton, Edith was born September 4, 1921, at Akron, Ohio.Edith would graduate from New Philadelphia High School and following a period of courtship, would marry Daniel Goulder on August 23, 1942. Together, the couple would rear two daughters and share in fifty-five years of marriage prior to his passing in March of 1998.Edith was a partner-owner of the former Bond Shoe Store at New Philadelphia and a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church at Dover. Additionally, Edith was a member of the Alpha Pi Sigma Lambda Chapter as well as a member of the Clara Sullivan Circle and had also served as volunteer in Union Hospital at Dover.Throughout her life time Edith had a number of Bulldogs. She became very attached to each of them and enjoyed spoiling them. In her younger years, Edith would enjoy roller skating and dancing and would also find joy in watching ice skating. Surviving are two daughters, Cathy Hallman, husband Rev. Wilmer Hallman of Bucyrus, Ohio and Linda Rizzo of New Philadelphia and a sister-in-law, Betty Yelverton of New Philadelphia.Four grandchildren, James (Michelle) Hallman of Dennison, Michael (Tammy) Rizzo of Grove City, Rhoda Hallman (fiancée Steve Smith) of Hilliard, Ohio and Rachel Clarkson, (Michael Clarkson, PhD.) of Ithica, New York; three great-grandchildren, Noah, Naomi, and Niall; and an expectant fourth great-grandchild, due in June as well as numerous nieces and nephews complete the family.In addition to her parents and husband, Edith was preceded in death by a brother, James Yelverton.The family will receive friends one hour prior to services on Monday, March 8, 2010, from 1:00 â?? 2:00 PM in the Linn-Hert Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. The Rev. Stephen L. Patrick will lead a service celebrating Edith’s life in the funeral home’s chapel on Monday at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.Following services the family would like to invite guests to join them in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the New Philadelphia funeral home, where a meal and fellowship will be shared.Memorial contributions in Edith’s name may be sent to Grace Lutheran Church, 216 N Wooster Avenue, Dover, Ohio 44622.
