Edith K. Sharp, 100, of New Dawn Retirement Center in Dover, died there Good Friday evening, April 9, 2004.Born May 13, 1903 near Sugarcreek, she was a daughter of the Charles E. and Clara Correll Karling. On June 2, 1923 she married Frederick “Gus” Buehler, who died April 21, 1963. Later, on June 3, 1967, she married her second husband, Clyde Sharp, who preceded her in death December 4, 1978.By profession, she owned and operated the Buehler’s Infant and Pre-teen Store in Uhrichsville for several years. Later she was a clerk for the Vogue Shop, also in Uhrichsville, and the former Jaffe’s Store in New Philadelphia. Mrs. Sharp was a long-time member of Dover’s St. John’s United Church of Christ, the Bible Class and the Martha Circle as well as the church’s senior citizens’ group. She was also a member of the Tuscarawas County Farm Bureau, the Dover/New Philadelphia Professional Business Women and the World War 1 Auxiliary. Formerly, she belonged to the AARP.Survivors include nieces and nephews; Merle & Shirley King of New Philadelphia; Wayne & Carol King of Stone Creek; Marion & Harold Stertzbach and Loretta Proffitt, all of Louisville, OH; David & Martha King of Monticello, GA; Katherine & Paul Feller of Dover; Mabel & Sigal Stocker of Wooster; Carol & John Remington of Killbuck; Charles & Phyllis Karling of Dellroy; and Charlene King of New Philadelphia; one step-daughter, Mary Jane (Bob) Weber, of Seven Mile, OH.In addition to her parents and two husbands, Mrs. Sharp was preceded in death by a sister, Wilma King; two brothers, Elmer and Arthur Karling; an infant brother; a stepdaughter, Jennet Bucher; and several stepbrothers and stepsisters.Calling hours will be Monday, April 12, 2004 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM and one hour prior to the funeral on Tuesday, April 13, 2004 at 10:30 AM, all at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home, New Philadelphia. Her pastor, Rev. Steven Daniels, will officiate and burial will follow at Evergreen Burial Park. After the cemetery committal, everyone is invited to share a meal at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Dover.Contributions may be made to St. John’s United Church of Christ Memorial Fund, 409 No. Wooster Ave., Dover, OH 44622 or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
