Edith June Haas

Edith (Edie) June Haas, 86, of Greentown, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Rose Lane Nursing Home in Massillon, Ohio with her family by her side.

A daughter of the late Howard and Florence (Wilkinson) Meese, Edith was born June 4, 1927 in New Philadelphia, Ohio.

Edith was raised in New Philadelphia. She moved to Ellet before relocating to Greentown where she spent most of her adult life.

She retired from the F.W. Albrecht Company in Akron where she worked as an office clerk and was a member of U.F.C.W. Local 880. Edith was a former member of the Greentown United Methodist Church and also attended Calvary Chapel in Massillon.

Edith enjoyed boating and camping at Atwood Lake. She also enjoyed needlework in her spare time. Most of all she cherished her family and the time spent with them as well as spending time with her beloved Boston Terriers, Molly and Kobe.

She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, James D. Haas; her daughters, Sherryl (Ken) Edwards-Kostolich of North Canton, Ohio and Beth (Philip) Eades of Dalton, Ohio; 11 grandchildren, Greg Tygard and Gena (Todd) Williams, Harold (Carrie) Edwards, Douglas (Paige) Edwards, Michael Edwards, Sarah Eades, Andrew (Joanne) Eades, John David Eades, Joellen Eades and Meredith Eades and Anjeanette Cowell; her great-grandchildren, Turner, Cooper, Logan and Wade Edwards, Hannah and Maddie Edwards and Lily and Will Edwards and an expectant great grandchildren Eades due in February.

Edith was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Harold Eugene Tygard; her siblings, Helen Hinig, Evelyn Wright, Florence Knisely, Robert Meese, Walter Meese and Harry Meese.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 10, 2014 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home in New Philadelphia. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Joe Santomen officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park, New Philadelphia.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on January 25, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Greentown United Methodist Church with a reception to follow.
