Dr. Edgardo “Lando” Rubio Kagaoan passed away on May 23, 2017 at the Truman House Community Hospice Facility in New Philadelphia, Ohio.
Dr. Kagaoan was born June 30, 1941 in the province of Umingan, Pangasinan in the Philippines. His first wife Dr. Conchita Echalas Kagaoan, his parents, Dr. Apolinario and Purificacion Kagaoan and his sister Fe Dahlia Adriano precede him in death.
He leaves behind his wife of 47 years, Deborah Anderson Kagaoan, his four children Patricia “Mia” Rooney (Michael), Patrick “PV” Kagaoan (Jenevieve), Kristina “Tina” Harrison (Todd) and Christopher “Ryan” Crosier (Carolyn), his seven grandchildren, Sean, Jack, Hannah, Morgan, Kara, Ryan and Grayson and his siblings, Nieves Gan, Erlinda Kagaoan, Lilila (Arsing) Alagar, Evelyn Kagaoan, Susan Kagaoan, Cesar Kagaoan and Purita Kagaoan along with his nieces and nephews who fondly called him, “Uncle Lando.”
Dr. Kagaoan graduated from the College of Medicine at University of Santo Thomas in the Philippines in 1965. He moved in 1966 to Toledo, OH with his first wife Conchita Echalas Kagaoan (March 13, 1941 – February 3, 1969) to complete their joint residency at Riverside Hospital and later practiced at St. Vincent Hospital. Dr. Kagaoan started his private practice in Uhrichsville, Ohio and served on staff at Twin City, Mercy and Aultman Hospitals. Dr. Kagaoan and his second wife, Deborah settled in the town of Uhrichsville and later became longtime residents of New Philadelphia, Ohio.
Dr. Kagaoan had a love of cars, fine suits and often could be found listening and singing to Frank Sinatra, especially his most favorite Sinatra song, “My Way.” He will be remembered for the love and care he gave his patients and for the uncanny way he sang “My Way” dressed in a fine suit and silk tie.
A memorial service celebrating Dr. Kagaoan’s life will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 10:30 AM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia officiated by Pastor Jeff Croft, with the family greeting guests one hour prior to the service. Cremation care has been conducted by Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory.
Instead of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be directed to Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Avenue SW, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
