Earl W. Youngen, 86, Creston, formerly of New Philadelphia, died Friday, November 28, 2003, at Smithville Western Care Center in Smithville.The only child of the late William Henry and Susan Grace Casebeer Youngen, Earl was born in New Philadelphia on March 12, 1917.A retired district supervisor for the Lawson Milk Company, he was an avid bowler, fisherman, painter, and woodworker, often using the latter skills to create Christmas gifts for the family and friends he loved. He also served as the Camp Host at Leesville Lake, a position which allowed him to enjoy his love of camping and people.Earl was preceded in death by his wife, the former Pauline Miller, who died November 2, l990.He is survived by his daughters, Darlene Phillips of Mansfield and Sharon (David) Harr, Sr., of Creston; a son, Richard (Patricia) Youngen of Virginia; eight grandsons; and thirteen great-grandchildren.Services to celebrate Earl’s life will be on Tuesday, December 2, 2003, at 10:30 am at the Linn-Hert-Geib Chapel with the Rev. Terry Tareila, and Earl’s grandsons, Rev. Jack Radcliffe and Rev. Chris Radcliffe officiating. Visitation will be Monday, December 1, 2003, from 6-9 pm and Tuesday, December 2, one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Evergreen Burial Park. A reception following the committal service will be in the Geib Family Center.
