Earl Richard “Dick” Romig, 68, of New Philadelphia, died Saturday, May 20, 2006, at Aultman Hospital in Canton.A son of the late Jesse C. and Marie A. Miller Romig Maxwell, Dick was born September 10, 1937, in Dennison, O.He was a well known five string banjo player and bluegrass aficionado. Dick attended Dennison High School and served in the United States Navy. He was the former owner of the South Broadway Nursing Home in New Philadelphia, a member of the Clinton Lodge F & AM, in Massillon, and the Tadmoor Temple, in Akron.He is survived by his son, Erich R. Romig, of the home; and brothers, Robert Romig, of Dennison and James Romig, of New Philadelphia.Dick was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy Smith Romig; a daughter, Rita Sue Romig; a son Eric Romig; and a brother Tom Romig.Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 24, 2006, from 12:00pm to 2:00pm, in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory, in New Philadelphia. Services will be conducted by Pastor Mitchel Meadors on Wednesday at 2:00pm in the funeral home chapel.
