Earl N. Baker, 90, of New Dawn Retirement Community at Dover, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 9, 2007.A son of the late William and Dorcas (Wagner) Baker, Earl was born November 11, 1917 at Zion, Illinois.Earl graduated from high school in Waukegan, Illinois where he resided before entering the Armed Forces. He served his country during World War II as a pilot in the Army Air Corps.He was employed with Joy Manufacturing at New Philadelphia, Ohio before starting his own company, Electro-Medic of Ohio. Earl was a member of Union Country Club at Dover, Ohio where he enjoyed golfing and the Akron YMCA. He was also an avid handball player in which he competed nationally.Earl leaves behind his longtime wife and friend of 40 years, Pierrette “Peg” Baker of Hartville, Ohio; twin daughters, Cheryl (Dennis) Paustch of California and Sandi (Robert) Van Dorn of Texas; a granddaughter, Jacquie Van Dorn and one brother, Jack (Barbara) Baker of NevadaHe was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, the mother of Cheryl and Sandi, Florence Baker.In keeping with Earl’s wishes, cremation will take place under the care of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia.
