Earl J. Pritchard, 92, a lifelong New Philadelphia resident, died peacefully early Tuesday morning at Hennis Care Centre in Dover, where he had been a resident for the past two years.Born in New Philadelphia August 22, 1911, he was a son of the late John C. and Blanche Johnston Prichard. On August 22, 1929, Earl married the former Delores H. Brown, who survives. They would have celebrated 75 years of marriage together in August of this year. Mr. Pritchard served his country during World War II in the United States Navy Air Corps, and was a member of the former American Legion in New Philadelphia. Following the war, he went to work for the Ohio Department of Liquor Control where he worked for thirty-five years as an inspector. He enjoyed traveling by car, and his work took him to every county in Ohio. In addition to his wife, Mr. Prichard is survived by a son, Jerry Lee Pritchard and his wife Connie, of Bryan, OH. He’ll be sadly missed by two grandsons, Steve and his wife Chris of Montpelier, OH, and Dan Pritchard, also of Bryan, OH. In addition to his parents, a brother, Paul, and two sisters, Madeline Jastatt and Iva Getz, precede him in death.Friends are invited to call Friday, June 18, from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home of New Philadelphia. The Rev. Dr. Steven Bailey will officiate funeral services Saturday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home’s chapel. Burial will follow in their family plot in Evergreen Burial Park. A reception will be given for family and friends following the service in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the funeral home.
