Earl C. Miller

Earl C. “Dutch” Miller, 77, of New Philadelphia, died Thursday, August 1, 2002, at Union Hospital, Dover, following complications of a stroke. Born January 1, 1925, in New Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Earl E. and Martha D. (Jarvis) Miller. Dutch attended New Philadelphia High School, and he then served honorably in the US Army Air Force during World War II. He was a farmer, and he worked for Production Credit Association as a Branch Manager before retiring in 1985 after 28 years of service. Dutch was a member of the Jerusalem Church, New Philadelphia, where he served as treasurer for nine years. He was a former member of the Consistory, the New Philadelphia Lions Club and New Philadelphia Rotary Club. He was also a life member of the American Legion Post # 139, and a member of the Ruritan club in Stone Creek. Dutch was an avid hunter, fisherman and he loved working in the yard. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends.Surviving is his wife of 56 years, Dorothy (Jones) Miller, of the home, whom he married June 15, 1946; two daughters, Patty (Lee) Krieg of DePere, Wisconsin, and Susie (Dave) Bambeck of Dover; son, Mike (Denice) Miller of Sterling; six grandchildren, Amy and Jennifer Miller, Elizabeth Spence, Megan and Lydia Bambeck, and Mark Krieg; brother, Robert E. Miller of Dover. He was preceded in death by a son, Tom, and two brothers, Richard and Paul.Funeral services will be held Monday, August 5, 2002, at 11 AM, in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home, New Philadelphia, with Rev. Terry Downin officiating. Burial will follow in Dover Burial Park. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, August 4, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in the funeral home.
