E. Jeanette Larkin, 82, of Newcomerstown and formerly of New Philadelphia, went to her heavenly home, Monday, September 24, 2018.
Born in New Philadelphia August 14, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Garnet and Frances I. Randolph Larkin and was a 1954 graduate of Uhrichsville High School. Jeanette received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Kent State University and had taught in the Tuscarawas School District for 11 years, the Newcomerstown School District for 20 years and retired from the former Indian Hills Christian School in 1996 after nine years of teaching third grade.
Jeanette was a former member of the First Baptist Church in New Philadelphia and currently a member of the First Baptist Church in Newcomerstown. She was a member of the Andy Griffith Club and the Glad Rag Doll Club. She played the piano with her church’s ministry for area nursing facilities and was a member of the Good Shepherd Sunday School Class. Also known for her love of children and following her retirement, Jeanette continued nurturing children by serving as a foster parent.
Surviving is a nephew, Michael Larkin of Barnhill, whom she raised; sisters, Loretta Brady of Newcomerstown, Laura Jean Price of Aurora, Missouri, Pam (David) Bozman of Mount Vernon, Missouri and Linda Haney of Newcomerstown; a brother, David (Martha) Larkin of Aurora, Missouri; and numerous other nieces and nephews. A brother, James Larkin and a sister, Judy Tillman are deceased.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 27, 2018 at 11 AM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home at New Philadelphia with Pastor Robert LaFolette and David Millard officiating. Burial will be in East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia. Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 26, 2018 from 5 to 8 PM in the funeral home.
