E. Hope Gopp

E. Hope Gopp, 96, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2016 in the care of New Dawn Retirement Community in Dover.

A daughter of the late Arthur and Alice (Brinkman) Pake, Hope was born April 12, 1920 at New Philadelphia.  In 1939 she married her loving husband of 33 years, Albert Gopp.

She was a graduate from New Philadelphia High School in 1938.  She worked as a sales clerk for Montgomery Ward and Earl Smith Dry Goods.  She retired from Union Hospital where she worked in central services for more than 20 years.  She was a member at Emmanuel Luther Church, the Lady Elks, and the Lady Elks bowling team.   In her free time, Hope enjoyed gardening, sewing, and playing cards.

Hope is survived by her son Daniel (Barbara) Gopp; two granddaughters, Wendy (Roger) Mullins and Abbey (Joshua) Beaver; two great granddaughters, Kathryn and Mackenzie Mullins; two sisters-in-law, Marybelle Pake and Mary Gopp; brother-in-law, Lloyd Meese; special friend, Emmabelle Taylor; many nieces and nephews and the staff and friends at New Dawn Retirement Community.

In addition to her parents and husband, Hope was preceded in death by a grandson, Daniel Brian Gopp and three siblings, Faith Catcott, Wanda Meese and Samuel Pake.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 from 11 to 12 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia.  A service celebrating her life will begin at 12 p.m. with Pastor Hugh Berry officiating.  Burial will follow at Evergreen Burial Park.
